To mark our 10th anniversary, the Fluix team, customers, and partners gathered in Berlin to discuss the latest field productivity trends, as well as celebrate 10 years together.

It was a great day, full of stories from the field.

There were many great speakers, and we would need a separate blog to summarize all the great insights. (And maybe we’ll do it later). But for now, here’s a look at some key takeaways we gathered from the event.

Tackling Energy Sector Demands

One of the most informative sessions came from Alessandro Garofalo, Corporate IT Director of Synergy, a US energy and water efficiency contractor.

Alesandro gave a lot of insights into the complex world of demands of California’s energy sector. With high energy consumption, intense regulatory pressures, and ambitious zero-carbon goals, California indeed presents unique challenges.

We were happy to hear how Fluix helped them handle the complexity of the operations, streamlining documentation and workflow management – they’ve also achieved a level of security and efficiency that their previous tools simply couldn’t deliver.

One of Alesandro’s main points was that intuitive design for end users can be a game-changer. With it, even people without a technical background can use new digital tools effectively. You can find Synergy’s full success story here, and learn what other tactics helped them succeed.

Challenges in Construction, and How Digitalization Can Help

Another speaker who won everyone’s attention was Timo Göbel, Head of IT Department at LUDWIG FREYTAG, a building leader from Germany who specializes in planning, maintenance and supervision for construction of all types and sizes. He shared his insights on the construction industry’s hurdles, painting a picture of a sector in transition.

Construction has faced material and workforce shortages, rising energy costs, and an overall lack of digitalization. Projects have been delayed and budgets stretched thin. And when your team is spread across rural sites with limited connectivity, productivity takes a serious hit.

Timo explained that construction has traditionally been reactive, with loosely defined processes that create high communication costs and inefficiencies. But by bringing workflows, forms, and permits online, LUDWIG FREYTAG’s team managed to keep everything from timesheets to complex technical documents accessible offline – even on remote job sites.

Integration with their ERP system also helped handle high volumes of project data. Timo credited Fluix with “blue-collar-approved” ease of use, offline sync, and fast support, which have all contributed to reducing costs and improving procurement – critical wins in an industry where time is money. We also have LUDWIG FREYTAG’s success story here, and you can learn more techniques.

How to Make the Most of Digital Transformation (Where Even to Start)

When we started talking about how to actually get started with digitalization, especially when you’re new to it, Nick Larsen, Fluix’s Head of Sales, came into play. His main message was – set clear goals.

Often, companies jump into digital without laying the groundwork – automating broken processes that only create more inefficiency. But what if you could streamline those processes first, eliminating pain points so the technology actually enhances productivity?

Nick urged businesses to start small, often with a pilot program. Set realistic goals by talking to those doing the work – inspectors on wind turbines, supervisors in the field, or analysts managing the data.

Then, involve Fluix in creating a roadmap that supports those goals. And we will be happy to assist.

Nick’s guidance laid out a clear path for companies looking to get started
