Top Aviation Conferences & Events to Attend in 2023

Opportunities to discuss the latest trends and technologies are beneficial to any industry, but even more so to the aviation sector, as the post-COVID recovery continues for airlines and the wider aviation industry.

2022 has been a very successful year for in-person aviation events, and all indicators point to next year following that trend. With that in-mind, we’ve listed some of the aviation events and airline industry events you can look forward to in 2023.

1. Airline Economics Growth Frontiers Global Dublin

When: January 15th – 18th, 2023

Where: Dublin, Ireland

Topics: Aviation leasing, air freight, air cargo, asset management, lessor finance, capital markets, airline restructuring, airline economics, fuel hedging, decarbonization, regional aircraft specialist leasing, eVTOL.

Dublin is the airline leasing capital of the world, with more than 60% of the world’s leased aircraft managed by Irish companies. So, it’s the perfect city to host leading aviation companies and experts.

The main focus of this event is on finance and leasing, but there are also several hot topics that will be covered, as outlined in the key topics mentioned above. The event also includes the prestigious Aviation 100 Global Leaders Awards ceremony.

2. 2023 NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference (SDC2023)

When: January 24th – 26th, 2023

Where: Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Topics: Federal aviation regulations, advanced planning, pre-flight requirements, flight planning and in-flight support, flight department dispatch technologies.

Where would we be without the schedulers and dispatchers who keep operations running smoothly every day? Many of them will be starting the New Year at the 2023 National Business Aviation Association Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference.

They’ll be in good company, with expert-led sessions covering federal aviation regulations, advanced planning, pre-flight requirements, and more. Most sessions count as credits towards the NBAA Professional Development Program (PDP) and other certifications (please check the event agenda for specific details).

3. AIR OPS 2023

When: February 14th-15th, 2023

Where: Brussels, Belgium

AIR OPS 2023 provides a space for business aviation flight operations professionals, ground handlers, airports and FBOs to meet with trip-planners and operators. Industry professionals will join more than 400 participants to discover more about the latest operational information for their respective roles, as well as meeting vendors and suppliers. Attendees can also avail of practical training opportunities and attend insightful information sessions.

4. Passenger Terminal Expo 2023

When: March 14th – 16th, 2023

Where: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Topics: Advanced air mobility (AAM), airport business management, environment and sustainability, facilities management, future airports, baggage systems, digital transformation.

10,000 people are expected to attend Passenger Terminal Expo 2023 in Amsterdam. The world’s largest annual airport design features 250+ exhibitors showcasing the very latest innovations, technologies and solutions to enhance efficiency, safety and overall passenger experience for airports.

The 1,900+ senior airport, airline, aviation authority, government and related business executives who also attend are a testament to the event’s status as one of the best events in its class.

5. Aerospace Tech Week Europe

When: March 29th – 30th, 2023

Where: Munich, Germany

Topics: Connectivity, avionics, MRO IT, aviation maintenance, predictive maintenance, flight ops IT, sustainability, airline e-enablement, Flight Operations IT Systems, Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs).

Over 300 delegates and 1,850 industry experts will join some of the world’s leading airlines to discuss the technologies that are supporting the digital transformation of the aviation industry. The event’s U.S. version, Aerospace Tech Week Americas, usually takes place in November. For those who cannot attend the events, Aerospace Tech Review is a magazine published by the organizers, which contains comprehensive events coverage and key takeaways.

6. The World Aviation Training Summit (WATS)

When: April 18th-20th, 2023

Where: Orlando, Florida, USA

Topics: Personnel selection and recruitment, regulation and training technologies, operational safety and efficiency, eLearning.

The World Aviation Training Summit (WATS) is the world’s largest aviation training event. 2023 marks 25 years of WATS connecting the global aviation training community with equipment manufacturers, eLearning providers, flight training organizations, and maintenance and cabin crew suppliers.

The event will consist of three conference streams for pilot, cabin crew, and maintenance training, as well as a student program and workshops, alongside one of the biggest aviation trade shows of 2023.

Delegates will have opportunities to discuss the latest training technologies and techniques to improve operational safety and efficiency. Although this is not exclusively a ‘pilot event’, there are multiple benefits and points-of-interest to be found for pilots who attend.

7. World Cargo Symposium

When: April 25th – 27th, 2023

Where: Istanbul, Turkey

Topics: Air cargo, operations management software, sustainability.

WCS 2023 will offer its estimated 1,400+ attendees the opportunity to attend plenary sessions, specialized streams, workshops and executive summits, tackling aspects related to technology & innovation, security & customs, cargo operations and sustainability.

8. Airport Show & Global Airport Leaders Forum 2023

When: May 9th – 11th, 2023

Where: Dubai, UAE

Topics: Digitalization in aviation, sustainability, urban air mobility.

The 22nd annual Airport Show will incorporate the ATC Forum, Airport Security Middle East Forum, and the Global Airport Leaders’ Forum. Attendees are promised the latest insights on innovations for airport projects, including products and services enabling sustainable airports, as well as digitalization and urban air mobility development.

9. Aircraft Interiors Expo

When: June 6th – 8th, 2023

Where: Hamburg Messe, Germany

Topics: Passenger experience, inflight entertainment, cabin management systems, airframers, zero carbon cabins.

As aircraft events go, this one is very popular. Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) is the world’s leading marketplace for airlines and the supply chain to meet. 12,000 attendees and 600 exhibitors will gather to discuss the innovative ways that aircraft cabin interiors and onboard environments can enhance overall passenger experience. On that topic, the Passenger Experience Conference also takes place as part of this event.

10. The 8th Smart Airport & Regions Conference & Exhibition

When: July 19th-21st, 2023

Where: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Topics: Digital transformation, integrated utilities, urban development, resource management, IT based connectivity, airport design, SMART airport technology, passenger experience.

This three-day event brings 500 Airport Industry Leaders and over 90 Airport/Industry Expert Speakers together to network, share insights, and discuss the latest technologies utilized by SMART airports.

11. TakeOff North America 2023

When: August 13th-15th, 2023

Where: Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA

Topics: Route planning, regional airport operations, future of regional aviation.

Now in its 6th year, TakeOff North America attracts decision-makers from the North American domestic network planning community, including representatives from Air Canada, WestJet, and Alaska Airlines. Attendees can learn about the trends and challenges facing the industry, and discuss new and existing air services with senior-level industry professionals.

12. World Aviation Festival

When: September 26th – 28th, 2023

Where: Lisbon, Portugal

Topics: Aviation software, airport technology, automation, contactless journey, cyber security, enterprise transformation, sustainability, digitalisation.

The world’s largest aviation tech event brings 7,000 global executives and 500 speakers together for three days. Leaders of the world’s airlines, airports and their most senior executives in charge of software, services, marketing and distribution, will all attend what is sure to be an engaging and informative event. This probably one of the best aviation networking events on the annual calendar.

13. MRO Europe

When: October 17-19, 2023

Where: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Topics: Aircraft maintenance, supply chain, engine maintenance strategies, airline health monitoring, digital solutions, workforce pipeline, aircraft data, digital platform technology, tech-ops.

Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) are three essential sectors within the aviation industry. Not surprisingly, there are several conferences and events dedicated to each of them.

MRO Europe is the largest event of its kind in Europe. Over 7,000 delegates will hear from 35 expert speakers, and have the chance to discuss the latest trends and technologies defining the aviation maintenance industry with 400 exhibitors.

14. ATCA Global Conference & Expo 2023

When: November 1st – 3rd, 2023

Where: Washington, D.C., USA

Topics: Air traffic management, advanced air mobility (AAM), uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), airspace integration, commercial spaceflight, air traffic control.

The Air Traffic Control Association hosts this event in the City in which the Association was founded back in 1956 – Washington, D.C. Approximately 2,000 attendees are expected to attend 2023’s event, which is sure to build off the rapturous reception the event received in its 2022 post-Covid return to welcoming delegates in-person.
